The course is designed to improve students’ fluency in spoken English. We will look at important contributing factors such as pronunciation, intonation, and stress. Shadowing exercises will be introduced to help students enhance their oral skills. Class activities include informal discussions, role plays and (impromptu) individual/group presentations, in which students will exchange their ideas about issues encountered in daily life and on campus, as well as acquire the vocabulary and expressions needed to discuss those topics. Conversation strategies will also be discussed.
